The walk in the “Selvasecca” estate in Blera allows you to immerse yourself in the unspoiled nature typical of the lower Maremma.
Managed by the “Agricultural University of Blera” (a body that deals with the protection of the territory), the estate is grazed by cows and horses raised in the wild. Within this area there are large fountains for watering animals with traditional wind pumps.
It falls within a Special Protection Area established by the European Commission for the protection of birds of prey. Characterized by Mediterranean vegetation, the excellent black summer truffles typical of the area are obtained from the ground below the oaks.
It is scattered with Roman villas, of which it is still possible to see the remains of some water collection tanks.
From the highest point of the estate you can admire a beautiful panorama that goes from the Monti della Tolfa, in the province of Rome, to the first mountains of Tuscany.
After the walk it will be possible to relax in the farmhouse for lunch.
